Did you know one of the best botanical garden holiday light displays is right here in Wichita? A USA Today poll ranked Botanica’s Illuminations the sixth best in America.
Besides the fact that Santa Claus is there every night, there’s close to two million bulbs that create the magic of Illuminations. Get ready to feast your eyes on Wichita’s twinkling wonderland.
“The way they got it lined up with the music is amazing,” said Jason and Rachel Rupp, Wichita.
“The music with the lighting up trees and all the blinking lights,” said VanVlaricum Family, Kansas City.
Botanica’s Illuminations has been getting people in the spirit of Christmas for more than ten years, but this year, in particular, stands out. Its been ranked as the sixth best botanical garden holiday lights out of ten chosen nationwide.
“We were honored to just be among those chosen for the poll,” said Lee Lindquist, Lighting Director.
“Saw that this Christmas light display is one of the nationally ranked ones so we were kind of excited to come out and take a look at it,” said the Rupp family.
So what makes it unique well I asked the lighting director.
“It is a walk through display so people can go at their own pace check out all of our themed gardens,” said Lindquist.
There’s light up trees, candy canes, butterflies, and much more. Its become a major regional attraction.
“Just the atmosphere and the lights and just having family and friends around,” said Rachel Hitz, Inman.
Saturday Lindquist says more than seven thousand people walked through Botanica’s lights. And with less than a week left of the magic, he hopes it will continue to live up to its new title.
“It’s very beautiful I could see why,” said the VanVlaricums.
The display is closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but will run though December 31st. And you can get tickets at Botanica, online or any QuikTrip location.
