Kansas honors officers who have fallen in the line of duty

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNW) – Thousands of people gathered at the Kansas statehouse, and one of the people they remembered was Sedgwick County Deputy Robert Kunze.

Just last year, three deputy sheriffs lost their lives while in the line of duty. One was Deputy Sheriff Robert Kunze who died September 16, 2018.

“He was somebody that really cared about the community. Cared about the people he served. Out there in western Sedgwick County, where he rode at, all the people knew him out there. Which, that’s a legacy in itself,” said Sheriff Jeff Easter.
