The mother of Andrew Finch, a victim in a deadly officer-involved shooting, spoke out Tuesday before Wichita City Council members. Andrew was shot in December after police responded to a swatting call.
“What would you do or want if this was your child? What happened to my son that night could easily happen to anyone, even a council member,” Lisa Finch said.
Finch is demanding more be done in the investigation and asking the officer involved be held accountable. The Finch family is currently suing the City of Wichita, saying there is a “veil of secrecy” because officials have not released the name of the officer who shot her son.
“I have in no way seen justice for my son, Andrew Finch. One way or another, you will eventually have to deal with this. Why not do the right thing, give justice to my son?” she added.
The Wichita Police Department said the officer involved in the incident is currently on what they call “paid administrative capacity”.
