FINNEY COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) – The lockdown has been lifted at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City after reports of an active shooter were made Wednesday night.
According to Garden City Police Captain Randy Ralston, officers received the initial report of an active shooter at St. Catherine Hospital around 7:30 p.m.
After officers responded to the scene, no evidence of an active shooter was located.
“Hospital staff, they’re following the their security protocols and at this time that’s it,” said Ralston. “We’re investigating the nature of the call and into that at this time.”
Ralston said there is no evidence of any threat at this time.
“We’re going to make sure everything is OK,” added Ralston. “We’ll follow our procedures to make sure everything is OK.”
Hospital officials said the south entrance will likely be closed throughout the evening but patients can enter on the north side.
St. Catherine Hospital’s public information officer Shawna Deal said the hospital is on lockdown. She also said unconfirmed reports of an active shooter in the building have been made.
Deal said law enforcement officers are on the scene and there are no injuries.
According to Finney County dispatchers, St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City is on lockdown.
Dispatchers say police are on the scene. The situation is still uncertain at this time.
