A Kansas farm is spreading Christmas joy while offering a unique holiday experience.
“I always thought that would be a lot of fun for families to come out and spend time together and just get into the holiday spirit,” said Zac Yarnall.
Yarnall is the owner of Cardinal Creek Farm. The farm, located west of Leon, is known for hosting weddings, summer camps and festivals.
It’s gaining in popularity thanks to its extravagant holiday display and activities.
“We try for an old-fashioned Christmas, you know, old memories, new traditions,” Yarnall said.
The farm boasts a synthetic ice-skating rink, a gift shop with hand made wreaths and ornaments and its very on Santa’s workshop where children get a specially made toy.
“The kids pick a couple pieces of wood and one of Santa’s elves makes their toy for them,” Yarnall said.
“I love it. It’s beautiful out here,” said visitor Jennifer Reid. “This is really small and cozy and it’s a fun thing for kids to do.”
There’s plenty more for kids and adults to do at the farm.
“We have snowball toss. We have hayrack rides. We have food in the kitchen. Santa is here on Saturdays,” Yarnall explained.
Visitors can also choose and purchase a pre-cut tree from Michigan. They can gather around a fire pit free of charge. There’s also complimentary hot cocoa and hot apple cider.
“Every one is welcome to come out. There is no admission to the farm, so it’s a pay to play kind of thing so families can come out and spend as much or as little as they want,” he said.
Yarnall said his goal is to encourage families to make memories together during the holidays.
