Man accused of battery of a law enforcement officer, possession of meth

The Wichita Police Department has arrested a 33-year-old man accused of battery of a law enforcement officer. It happened early Wednesday. 

Officers found a vehicle parked at Pawnee Prairie Park and began to investigate. 

They found a man and confirmed he had multiple warrants. They attempted to arrest him. 

He was uncooperative and began to fight with officers. One officer received a leg injury. 

The man, identified as Austin Hinojos, was booked on suspicion of aggravated battery of an officer, possession of illegal weapons, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, and remaining in the park after hours. 

The investigation will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
