Man arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder in Friday shooting


Wichita police said a 19-year-old man was arrested in connection to a shooting Friday night that critically injured a man. 

It happened in southeast Wichita in the 7900 block of East Indianapolis Street. 

When police arrived, they found a 29-year-old man with several gunshot wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he remains for treatment. 

On Wednesday, police arrested the suspect, Treyvaun L. Griffin, in the 1900 block of East 47th Street South. 

He was booked on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, aggravated robbery and possession of firearm by a felon

Police said during their investigation, they learned there was a disturbance before the shooting. 

“During the disturbance, Griffin pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots striking the victim,” said officer Charley Davidson, Wichita Police Department media spokesman. 

The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
