Man charged with crash that killed off-duty officer and his son makes court appearance

James Dalrymple, the man accused in a crash that killed off-duty Wichita police officer Stacy Woodson and his son Braeden, was in Sedwick County court Wednesday morning.

Dalrymple is charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter while under the influence. His bond has been set at $100,000.

The crash occurred on April 27 at 21st Street North and 167th Street West. Stacy was operating the motorcycle. His son, Braeden, was a passenger when the collision happened. Authorities tested Dalrymple for DUI after the accident.

Dalrymple’s attorney maintains that tests show his client was under the legal limit and claims the intersection is a known danger.

Dalrymple’s next hearing is set for Dec. 13 at 3:30 p.m.
