Man taken into custody after standoff in west Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – The Wichita Police Department said a man was taken into custody after a standoff Sunday afternoon. It happened in the 100 block of North Clara.

Police said the standoff began when the woman’s current boyfriend noticed her ex-boyfriend out by the garage. The ex-boyfriend attempted to enter that home. The boyfriend was assaulted with a knife.

The 44-year-old ex-boyfriend barricaded himself in the garage. Police and SWAT team members were called to the scene.

The ex-boyfriend was taken into custody for aggravated assault, obstruction, and bench warrants.
