Many stop by WSU to share memories of president Dr. John Bardo

Many stopped by Dr. John Bardo’s office Wednesday to offer their condolences.

The Wichita State University president died Tuesday after an illness. Bardo was 70 years old. Bardo became Wichita State’s president in July 2012.

The university extended an invitation to anyone wanting to share their memories, bring cards or sign notes of remembrance to stop by Bardo’s office in Morrison Hall, Room 203.

“During my time, John Bardo has kind of shaped the way the university has went. Ever since the beginning, with the Innovation Campus, with his vision, coming back to the values, finding where we came from, studying past presidents, it has been inspiring to see. I just wanted to come in here and write a quick note,” said Tyler Pennick, WSU faculty.

You can still drop a note during office hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday.

Funeral services will be private, but a Celebration of Life event for the entire WSU and Wichita community will be held later this spring on campus.
