Millions expected to hit the roads for the holidays

Holiday Road Travel

Triple a projects 102 million Americans to drive to their holiday destination this year.
Whether spending the holidays close to home or traveling far, Kansas travelers tell me the low price at the pump is a nice gift .

“You don’t expect it, you expect it to be as high as they can possibly push it up there,” Micki Davis, Wichita Resident

“People can put a little bit more in on their Christmas presents, said Janis Watkins, Valley Center resident.

According to the average price of regular unleaded in Wichita is $1.92.

“Every little bit makes a little bit go a whole lot further,” said Davis.

” I remember when it used to be 29 cent a gallon which it will never be again. but this is very pleasant to have it down this low right now,” said Watkins.

If you are taking a road trip for the holidays, Kansas Highway Patrol has a reminder. Make sure your vehicle is in good working condition.

“You don’t want to be driving to a christmas party you have with your family and get a flat tire because you’re tires are already flat before you leave,” Trooper Taylor Platt, Kansas Highway Patrol.

All to insure everyone gets to their destination safely.
