WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A violent crash early Monday shut down the southbound lanes of I-135 near K-96  for a time.

It happened around 12:15 after a man on a motorcycle sped through the area.

Law enforcement clocked the rider speeding southbound and gave chase.

Moments later, the rider lost control of his bike and wrecked.

“They came under K-96. He slowed back down. He knew the curbs were coming up. The motorcycle lost control hitting the barrier,” said Sgt. Kari Gourley, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies estimate the bike was traveling 120 mph. The rider is in critical condition.
