Art that inspires. A new mural is doing just that in one Wichita Neighborhood. City officials were on hand for a ribbon cutting ceremony today at Evergreen Recreation Center.
Two Colombian artists painted the vibrant mural for free. It showcases an Aztec God who represents the giver of life and nourishment. City officials say murals like this help unite under represented communities.
“So this piece brings life to our community,” said Cindy Claycomb, Wichita City Council Member. “And serves as a piece we can be proud of completing together.”
The mural is part of a wider project, the Horizontes Project, focused on painting a series of culturally significant murals around Wichita.
