Pete Meitzner and Lacey Cruse were sworn in Sunday in downtown Wichita.
Meitzner is a Republican and will take office in District 1. Cruse is a Democrat and will begin her term in District 4.
Meitzner says this is a day he’s been anticipating for a long time, and he’s excited to get to work on issues like mental health.
“I think there’s a burning desire to help the county in general in things like mental health challenge we have, dependency challenge with, can we focus on raising the tide with many?” asked Pete Meitzner, Sedgwick County Commissioner. “Because, I think that improves us all.”
Cruse also says she looks forward to improve mental health. But she says she’s just happy to be in a position to help Sedgwick County residents in general.
“I mean the longevity for the people who work for Sedgwick County is really remarkable, and I am just excited to tell the stories and listen and learn how I can best be of service.”
