Officers investigate death of Heights High School student

PARK CITY, Kan. (KSNW) – Law enforcement officers are investigating the death of a Heights High School student. The student’s death was reported Thursday around 6:15 p.m.

Sedgwick County Sheriff’s deputies say Park City police officers were called to a home in the 100 block of W. 57th Street North Thursday to investigate the case.

Capt. Dave Mattingly with the Sheriff’s Office said the victim is a 16-year-old boy who was a student at Heights. He said the death did not occur at the school

Mattingly said Park City Police officers originally responded to the call. After a short time, they requested assistance in the investigation from the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office.

While the death appears to be suspicious, Mattingly said that determination won’t be made until a forensic examination of the teen’s body has been completed. He did not say when that would be.
