AUGUSTA, Kan. (KSNW) — A 29-year-old man was injured in a shooting in Augusta Wednesday afternoon.

According to the City of Augusta, around 3:20 p.m., they received multiple calls to report shots fired in the 1100 block of Bobbie St.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers say they found the man who had been shot as a result of an argument.

“All we know is that they ended up in an argument, and then into an altercation, and then shots were fired and then one subject was shot in the back,” said Todd Ackerman, the director of public safety for the City of Augusta.

It was later revealed that the argument was over getting evicted.

The victim was taken in serious condition to a hospital in Wichita.

The suspect, identified by the Augusta Department of Public Safety as 32-year-old Joseph Carlson, was booked on suspicion of aggravated assault and aggravated battery charges.
