A tradition for Good Friday called “The Way of the Cross” had more than 100 people marching through Wichita on Friday.
It took the group more than two hours to walk from St. Joseph Church to the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception.
The walk signifies the path that Jesus carried the cross and one person does the same.
The organizer says “The Way of the Cross” serves as a reminder for those who see it.
“We’re always kind of surprised and pleasantly surprised,” said Gerard Brungardt, Diocese of Wichita. “People will stop us and say ‘Oh, I kind of forgot that it was Good Friday’ and that in itself reminds that that there is something special about today.”
“The Way of the Cross” walk was open to all faiths.
