According to Wichita police, one man was pronounced dead at the scene and another was pulled away from a vehicle engulfed in flames after a 2008 Ford F-150 struck a tree at approximately 1:35 a.m. Saturday morning.
Officers were called to a single vehicle accident at Edwards and Second Street and located a vehicle in the front yard of a residence.
It was determined that the vehicle was traveling northbound on Edwards, struck a curb and hit a large tree.
The front passenger, a 29-year-old man, escaped the vehicle and was pulled to safety by officers as the vehicle caught on fire. He was transported to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
The driver, a 28-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of accident is still under investigation.
