A Wichita police captain who was found guilty of battery and disorderly conduct in July is no longer working with the Wichita Police Department.

Kevin Mears was sentenced to six months of probation and ordered to pay $450 in fines after an incident in January at a youth basketball game in Augusta.

He was recorded on video pushing a teenage referee at his son’s basketball game. The video of the confrontation was shared thousands of times on Facebook.

Wichita police officer Charley Davidson tells KSN Mears’ last day of employment was Monday, August 13.
