The Wichita Police Department presented two men with outstanding citizen awards for helping an injured motorcycle cop.

Officer Tricia Tiede was injured back in April when she laid her bike down on East Kellogg. Tiede suffered broken ribs and a dislocated shoulder.

On Wednesday, officer Tiede presented the awards to Gerald McCoy and Kyle Parker. The men came to her aid.

“I do believe if it wasn’t for Gerald and Kyle, there could have been a fatality. They did stop traffic, and I wanted to thank them for what they did do and paying attention,” said officer Tricia Tiede, Wichita Police Department.

Officer Tiede has returned to the department.
