Police release name of officer killed in motorcycle crash


The off-duty Wichita Police Department officer fatally injured on Friday evening in an accident which involved a motorcycle and a truck is 37-year-old Stacy Woodson. The accident happened at 21st Street North and 167th Street West

Stacy was operating the motorcycle. His 10-year-old son, Braeden, was a passenger and was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. The boy later died. 

The accident is being investigated by the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office.

Stacy was a 16-year-veteran of the WPD. Officer Charley Davidson said Woodson is remembered for his leadership, professionalism, and selflessness.

“He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and WPD family,” WPD Chief Gordon Ramsay said. “Our thoughts and prayers continue for Stacy’s family, friends, and others affected by this tragedy.”
