Police standoff ends after officer shot in Manhattan

MANHATTAN, Kan. (KSNT) – The Riley County Police Department says a standoff in the area of the 3700 block of Hawthorne Woods Circle has ended after a barricaded suspect surrendered to police.

Officers responded around 12:30 Friday afternoon to the scene of a reported  domestic situation. Riley County Police Department Director Brad Schoen says one of the first officers to respond to the call Friday was shot by the man inside the home, who then barricaded himself inside.

Schoen says the officer’s injury is not life-threatening. He says a woman was able to escape the home. No one else was inside the house.

No other injuries were reported.
