Discussion continued Saturday on a proposed cell tower in the Riverside neighborhood.

“Neighborhood power is stronger than the tower,” local protesters chanted in Wichita Saturday.

Several people protested with signs near the proposed spot of the 100-foot monopole.

APC Towers, out of North Carolina pitched the project on the land owned by local developer Rob Snyder. The location is at the 700 block of W. 13th Street.

Residents share concerns about having the towers where three historic neighborhoods intersect.

“We don’t need a monopole obstructing the view of the river and being in the middle of this historic neighborhood,” said Teddi MCullough, resident opposed to cell tower location.

The even was organized by the Little Arkansas Community Coalition. The Wichita City Council is taking up the issue when it meets on Tuesday.
