WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Sedgwick County Republicans and Democrats set their differences aside today and joined forces to clean up the Arkansas River.
Both parties put on their gloves, grabbed some trash bags and got to work.
The goal, organizers say, is to show that political differences don’t matter when everyone works together for a common goal.
And there was no shortage of volunteers or trash to be picked up.
“We had about a hundred people out here today and I would say a hundred bags of trash just on this side of the river,” Sedgwick Co. Republican Party Chairman Dalton Glasscock said. “And so we really just wanted to give back and to help out.”
He says they hope to do more events like this in the future.
