Riverfest kicks off today, known as the “biggest party in Wichita.”
Over the next nine days, there are tons of events and attractions to check out.
Organizers said they like to keep the same festival traditions going:
- 6:30 p.m. – Safelite AutoGlass Sundown Parade
- 6:30 p.m. – Hot Air Balloons Launch
- 8:30 p.m. – Twilight Pops Concert featuring the Wichita Symphony Concert
- 10 p.m. – Textron Aviation Opening Night Fireworks
Riverfest is also kicking off with a ton of new events on the first day.
“We’ve got an eSports tournament, a video game tournament, and gaming area inside Century II, so a break from the heat,” said Mary Beth Jarvis, president of Wichita Festivals.
Attendees can also head to Expo Hall in Century II for the Comic Con.
Jarvis said there are lots of new exhibits and displays to look out for — many from outside Kansas.
Riverfest is part of the top 35 outdoor events in the world, according to organizers.
Jarvis said it’s a great way to celebrate the best of Wichita.
“We do this alongside much larger cities, and we do it with a spirit of hospitality and volunteerism that is unique,” she said.
While Riverfest provides a lot of fun and excitement, it can also cause some commute problems. Here is a list of all the street closures, times and days.
