WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office says it does not appear a crime was committed after shots were fired at the Maize Airport Friday morning.

Deputies, police, and emergency crews responded to a report of an active shooter at the airport in the 8000 block of West 45th Street North around 9:20 a.m.

The person who called it in said there were two suspects at the airport and another suspect leaving in a vehicle. The caller described the vehicle and the tag number.

Deputies and police did find evidence of shots being fired, but they did not find any victims.

They did find two men, ages 35 and 49, near the area where the shooting happened. They found the vehicle in southeast Wichita with a 27-year-old man inside.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office says the three men were questioned, and it was determined “the shots fired at the airport were not reckless or unauthorized and did not support the elements of a crime.”

The 49- and 27-year-old men were released, But the sheriff’s office says Yancy Hermosillo, 35, was arrested for an outstanding federal warrant for drug and weapons violations.

While investigators were trying to figure out what happened, they blocked 45th Street North between Ridge Road and Tyler.
