Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is using new 3D software to assist Haysville Police Department.
Haysville police and the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate a deadly shooting. It happened early Sunday morning at a party.
The victim’s name has not been released.
“We are really saddened and praying for those affected,” says Troy Lackey, who lives in Haysville.
“I haven’t heard about something like that happening around here to often,” his son Chase Lackey adds. “I don’t see why people do those kinds of things.”
Some in the Haysville community aren’t used to dealing with senseless killing.
“It just shouldn’t happen. I don’t see why people want to do those kinds of things,” says Lackey.
There is no question about that but the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office does have something to say about trying to find the person responsible.
“I suggested that why don’t we deploy the drones to get some aerial photos of the crime scene,” says Deputy Jeremy Noel.
Jeremy Noel is a deputy and a drone pilot. He’s good on the sticks and now getting better with a new program on his computer.
“We can really lock things in with the different angles of the photographs,” says Noel.
It takes basic drone footage like this and makes it into a 3D landscape. Noel says it gives investigators an edge on solving crime.
“It can pinpoint a piece of evidence without having them (Investigators) do the work,” Noel adds.
He says it has already come in handy trying to solve the crime in Haysville.
Noel says they hope to have the full 3D landscape of the crime scene and surrounding areas to investigators in Haysville by tomorrow afternoon. So far, no arrests yet made in the case.
