But on Tuesday, the sheriff’s office announced that after the Wichita Police Department fully investigated and presented Brooks’ case to the district attorney’s office and the Wichita prosecutor’s office, both offices declined to file charges against him.

The sheriff’s office says that Brooks has returned to restricted duty pending the outcome of the internal investigation.
