WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – This week the Sedgwick County Zoo’s Reed Family Elephants of the Zambezi River Valley habitat was announced as the second-place winner in the 2019 USA Today 10 Best Readers’ Choice Travel Award contest for Best Zoo Exhibit.

Nominees were picked by a small selection of expert travelers assembled on a panel panel. From there the top choices are sent for public and USA Today readership for a vote.

Sedgwick County Zoo’s Reed Family Elephants held the top spot for about a week, almost guaranteeing the number one spot up until Omaha Zoo’s Lied Jungle took the lead and held on until the contest close.

The Readers Choice Travel Award for Best Zoo Exhibit is one of many the Reed Family Elephant Habitat at Sedgwick County Zoo has won, including Top Honors for “Exhibit Design” awarded by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums in 2018.
