Crews from several departments were called out to battle a large grass fire in northwest Ellis County.
It happened near 150th and Severin Road Tuesday. The fire started near work equipment and quickly spread.
The fire traveled over four miles before crews could get it under control.
Mutual aid was requested from the Hays Fire Department, Ness, Trego, Graham, Rooks, and Russell counties.
One firefighter was injured and transported to the hospital. He has been released.
The Ellis County Fire Department will monitor the area for flare-ups.
