Severe weather spotter training schedules announced

Sedgwick County Emergency Management and the National Weather Service have released storm identification training schedules.

Every spring, the NWS and local emergency management agencies team up to provide free training to the public. Anyone with a desire to learn how to identify severe weather and learn about the dangers from these storms are encouraged to attend.

The classes offer important information, including:

  • Important cloud types and how to determine what you are looking at
  • Proper weather safety
  • Distinguishing tornadoes from their look-alikes

Most sessions last around 1.5 to 2 hours. Click below for current schedules:
