WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – After a short pursuit with Sedgwick County deputies, a motorcycle rider crashed and died early Friday morning.
The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s office said Timothy A. Tatum, 37, of Wichita, crashed in the area of 47th and Oliver around 2:30 a.m.
The sheriff’s office says a deputy attempted to pull Tatum over for a registration violation near 47th Street South and Broadview.
Investigators say Tatum fled eastbound on the motorcycle after the deputy turned on his overhead lights.
They say the motorcycle hit a raised median at 47th and Oliver, ending the chase. The entire pursuit lasted about 25 seconds and covered less than a mile.
Tatum died at the scene.
The sheriff’s office says it is still investigating the case.
