If you’re looking for Friday night plans, KSN has got you covered!
Join the Starlite Drive-in movie theatre for its official grand opening. It’s a way to celebrate a new chapter for the theatre, and a way to thank Wichitans for rallying to help save it.
The grand opening ceremonies begin at 6:15 p.m., with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Drive-in owner Blake Smith, Mayor Jeff Longwell, a few Wichita City Councilmembers and donors will be in attendance.
There will be lawn games, a t-shirt cannon and various photo opportunities for attendees.
“There is going to be a special event announced at the grand opening,” shared Tyler Cooper, Starlite’s creative director. “We can’t give that out yet but you’re going to have to come out to hear the big news.”
Cooper said the theatre plans to have more special events in the future.
For example, June 6 is National Drive-in Movie Day. Starlite will offer carload pricing.
“We’re gonna have other special events throughout the seasons including a couple more carload nights, and we’re looking at maybe doing some triple features later in the season,” said Cooper.
Staff said business has been great since the March re-opening, and hope to see more people as the weather gets better.
“We’ve been happy to see the smiling faces of Wichitans coming through the door and enjoying a movie and just having a good evening,” said Cooper.
