Heavy rain led to a mess in Jewell county.
Saturday’s storm ripped the roof off of the communication building, and then dumped five inches of rain inside.
Officials said the flood left about $40,000 worth of damages in technology alone.
“All of the repeater’s communication equipment was destroyed,” said Jewell County EMS Director Shannon Meier. “We went through the night pretty much without communication.”
Right now, officials are using a portable repeater radio that is hooked up to the tower.
Officials said response time for emergencies aren’t affected by the damage, but they don’t know when they will have the building or equipment fixed.
