Suspects attempt to ram door in would-be burglary outside Wichita

Local

SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) – A doorbell camera caught three suspects in the act, trying to break into a home north of Wichita last weekend.

While out of state, homeowner Dale Ziegler got a notification on his phone of activity happening from his Ring video doorbell and asked his neighbor to call 911.

“It was disappointing that people feel they need to break in,” Ziegler said.

Video shows a suspect trying to ram the door down with his body, using a running start. Two females stand nearby. The man tries again before they are scared off by an alarm.

Neighbor Glenn Kidd talked to law enforcement shortly after the alarm sounded.

“When we talked to the police officers, they said, ‘you’ll want to be aware of things, make sure your trailers are locked up,’ because they’re starting to see more and more of that out in the country now,” Kidd said.

The exterior door to the home sustained damage in the break-in attempt.

If you recognize these people in the video, call CrimeStoppers at 316-267-2111.
