You can thank the players for the fun.
“You can’t beat it,” says big time fan Michael Fan.
Maybe your parents for the tickets.
“Me and a couple buddy’s are going to go,” he says.
And the boys in blue for the safety.
Intrust Bank Arena General Manager AJ Boleski says, “Obviously this event is rather big.”
As the fans and the teams file in it may be the Kansas Highway Patrol, Wichita police, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office and arena security group that is the strongest team on and around the courts during March Madness.
“Part of focusing on the fan experience is safety and security. We work on it every single week. Not only arena security but around old town as well and downtown in general,” says Boleski.
A combination of community officers, deputies, motorcycle cops and patrol officers will man the arena and Old Town.
Deputies with the sheriff’s office say you may not see all of them, but they will see you. Using their boots on the ground and eyes from the Old Town Camera Command Center.
