Teen skateboarder dies after falling from car he was holding on to

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichita police said a teenager who was critically hurt after falling off a skateboard has died from his injuries.

15-year-old Samuel Harter was on a skateboard Sunday when the accident happened at 9th and Christine near Edgemoor Park.

Police said several teens were involved. Police said Harter and another boy were holding on to the Mazda’s driver and passenger side windows.

The car was moving when Harter was injured.

“The 15-year-old male on the passenger side lost control of the skateboard, fell and struck his head on the ground,” said officer Charley Davidson, Wichita police spokesman. “Vehicles aren’t designed to pull someone.”

A citizen rendered aid to the teenager.

“We don’t see this too often. It is a very tragic incident. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family,” said officer Davidson.

Right now, police are investigating the incident.

The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s office to see if any charges will be filed.
