Update: Man dies from injuries received in explosion

EL DORADO, Kan. (KSNW) – A man has died from injuries he received after an explosion at the HollyFrontier Refinery in El Dorado. The explosion happened around 11 a.m. Monday.

The 52-year-old man was transported to a Wichita hospital with second-and third-degree burns over 80 percent of his body. He died last night according to a hospital spokesperson.

The man’s name has not been released.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our friend and colleague.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends,” said George Damiris, CEO & President, HollyFrontier Companies.

A Butler County dispatcher says no one else was hurt and the plant was not evacuated.
