WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - Police and the family of victim of Leuh Moore say she and her husband had a violent history.
"The guy is so demanding and jealous," says her brother Leland Jackson.
That's how Moore's siblings describe the man suspected of killing her, Donnell Stafford, her husband.
"I seen it first-hand not too long after they got together," explains Jackson.
Their lives are now turned upside down. They can only surround themselves with more family to try to cope and be there for Leuh's 7-year-old son.
"I have no reason to why they even got married, other than she was scared for her life or he threatened her," says Jackson.
"They could think of that that as, 'oh well that person really likes me,'" explains Nicole Coba, Executive Director of the Wichita Crisis Center.
Coba says there could be a number of reasons someone stays in an abusive relationship.
"Every situation is different," she says.
The important thing is that they get help the crisis center is on 24 hour stand by for those exact reasons with free confidential services.
"The whole goal in life is to be happy," she says. "I often ask people if you are in an abusive relationship 'how happy are you?'"
For the Jackson, all they can do now is take care of each other and warn other victims.
"If it is hands on period, it is not worth it," says Jackson.
