Homeowner Bobbi Allen looks through a cooler full of precious family photos.
“This is pretty much the content of my house that’s left, everything else is destroyed.” said Bobbi Allan.
The only belongings that survived Thursday’s fire that destroyed her family’s Valley Center home.
“It’s pretty much charred, but we’re counting our blessings for what we did find,” said Allan.
The community is coming together to help the Valley Center family who lost everything after a fire destroyed their home earlier this week.
“We have had an overwhelming response of outreach. I appreciate everything everybody’s doing,” said Allan.
“We have to find a place to put the donations until they can get into a house,” said Crystal Smith, Allan’s sister-in-law.
The family’s youth pastor at Church at Park City Adan Grimaldo said he gladly offered his garage to help store donations.
“Once we start getting donations in we can start moving some things around,” explained Adan Grimaldo.
Grimaldo said he’s known the Allan family of seven for about five years.
“This is a big family. They’re going to need a lot of things clothes, furniture items, everything they are going to need everything,” explained Grimaldo.
Grimaldo feels the community coming together during this family’s time of need speaks volumes.
“And for this to be the example for the rest of the community to see that we can take care of each other,” added Grimaldo.
“We’re going to need all the help we can get,” said Allan. “We’re just taking it one day at a time, one step at a time.”
If you are interested in donating items to help the family, you can send them to Adan’s garage at: 6448 N. Wendell, Park City, Kansas 67129.
The family also has a GoFundMe to accept monetary donations.
