The Wichita Public Library Foundation recognized a $100,000 gift from Westar Energy as part of its “Margin of Excellence Campaign” to build Wichita’s new Advanced Learning Library.

A check was presented Tuesday at the library.

The contribution will allow the library to continue its effort to provide software and hardware training to learning adults and students in the community.

The training will teach students skills like applying for jobs and accessing important information.

“There are a lot of people in Wichita that struggle from digital inclusion,” said Cynthia Berner, Director of Libraries. “Having access to the technology, having the skill to use it effectively, so this space like this Westar Energy Training Center, really helps to bridge that gap.

The space will allow students to see and hear class content easily. Files can be shared and displayed simultaneously, making collaboration seamless and easy for teachers
