Wichita company celebrates aircraft milestone

Another Wichita company is celebrating a milestone today, Spirit Aerosystems has finished shipping parts for the 10,000th Boeing 737.

Spirit makes about 70 percent of the 737 structure.

Politicians and dignitaries were among the crowd at today’s celebration. So were eight people who worked on the very first 737 in 1966, and they still work on the plane.

“There’s always been interesting work, they keep me busy and they keep me challenged so I just as well do it as long as they want me,” John Fuller.

Fuller has worked at Wichita plant for 59 years.

The celebration will continue next week in Washington when Boeing delivers the 10,000th 737 to Southwest Airlines.
