The Wichita flag is reaching new heights after being on display at an experimental aircraft show this last week.

James and Kathy Wiebe of Belite Enterprises/Chipper Aerospace took their “The Spirit of Wichita” plane featuring the Wichita flag, slogan and a list of Wichita aircraft companies from over the years to the show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

“There are a number of good stories behind this aircraft, including an aircraft accident in Alaska in May where James walked away with barely a scratch. This plane, “The Spirit of “Wichita” was assembled to this point in 42 days, after having received the cabin, fuselage and wings as separate builds,” the Wiebes said in a press release.

In a phone interview with KSN news, James said lots of people stopped at the airshow to talk to him about the plane and the symbolism on it.
