A 30-year-old man is behind bars after an arrest made at a home in the 3100 block of N. Amidon Tuesday morning.
Wichita police officer Charley Davidson said Alejandro Manjarrez, of Wichita, was arrested for suspicion of aggravated robbery, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery, and possession of firearm by a felon.
The arrest stems from an incident on Friday, August 3 when a 47-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman met with Manjarraz at his home in the 100 block of N. Meridian to sell a winch.
There an argument ensued between the two and Manjarrez. The situation escalated and things got physical and a shot was fired in the home.
Davidson said Manjarrez allegedly forced the man and woman from the home and had them get into their truck and drove them to a remote location in Sedgwick County.
The victims were let out of the truck and made contact with a Sedgwick County Sheriff’s deputy who was patrolling the area. Manjarrez fled the scene in the truck.
On Tuesday morning around 1:00, officers responded to an aggravated assault case at a home in the 3100 block of N. Amidon. The case also involved Manjarrez. Once officers arrived, Manjarrez was not at the home.
About 10 hours later, officers were able to locate Manjarrez, and he was booked into jail. The truck was recovered at the home on Amidon.
Davidson said the investigation is ongoing and it will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office.
