A Wichita man is dead after his motorcycle struck a vehicle in south Wichita Thursday evening.

Wichita Police officers responded to a crash involving a motorcycle in the 5300 block of South Seneca where they found 34-year-old Shane Scranton of Wichita with critical injuries. Unfortunately, Scranton succumbed to his injuries.

Police said Scranton was riding a black 2009 Kawasaki motorcycle northbound on Seneca. A 71-year-old man was driving a 1979 Chevrolet pickup southbound on Seneca.  The driver of the pickup turned to go east on Mona Street, turning in front of the motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the truck, causing the fatal injuries to Scranton.

The driver of the truck and his passenger were not injured.  The investigation is still ongoing and will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.

This is the 27th fatality accident of 2018.
