A student at Wichita North High School has been taken into custody after bringing a gun to the school Wednesday.
A Wichita Public Schools spokesperson said the discovery of the gun was an isolated incident and that no threats were made and no one was hurt.
According to a school official, the security officer and the SRO got involved immediately and took the student into police custody.
District safety protocols were followed by school officials to ensure the safety of the students and staff.
In this case, the idea of “See Something, Say Something” worked, said the school official.
School officials are reminding parents to please speak with your children about the consequences of bringing inappropriate things to school. The district has a “Zero Tolerance” policy when it comes to weapons.
