Wichita woman helps save robbery victim's life: 'I was freaking out'

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - A Wichita woman says she helped save a robbery victim's life, but was not prepared for what she saw.

"I heard a customer saying 'hey, hey, hey,'" said Natasha Golden who works at the business next door.

"I was freaking out," she added. "I have never seen anyone that beat up before, or anything like that. Ever. Ever."

It started out as a normal Wednesday morning for Natasha Golden. That is until she says a battered woman came stumbling into her store.

"She had came in and was really struggling to walk and we noticed all her face was so swollen. Her head was swollen, her eyes were swollen shut and she had dry blood all over her," she said.

She says it was an employee from an alleyway business, Lucky Spa.

"She just kept holding her head and asking for help and was having trouble breathing," she added.

Golden said she pulled up a chair and called 911. Police say the victim was choked to unconsciousness and left on the ground before waking up and going for help.

"She needed help. She had to lift her eyelids so she could kind of see," she said.

"When we got to talking to her, she said it happened last night. I can only imagine how long she was in there by herself," said Golden.

Police say they are still searching for the person responsible. Golden says she and the other employees were just glad they could help her.

"She was exhausted, just really exhausted. Lots and lots of pain. You can tell she was tired. We just gave her some water and reassured her that we would help her until the police and ambulance came," she said.

Police say they are searching for a man who is around 5'2" tall. If you have any information you're asked to call police or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
