Wichita’s Central Library announces closing date

Wichita’s Central Library announced today it will be closing on Sunday, May 6.

The announcement comes as part of a series of transitions relating to the opening of the Advanced Learning Library located at 711 W. 2nd Street. 

Customers of the Central Library will experience some disruptions of services during the move. 

The following changes can be expected:

  • Customers who choose the Central Library as their preferred pickup location will be asked to collect those items from a different branch library of their choice. 
  • Interlibrary loan services will be suspended for all library locations beginning April 27. Borrowing of materials from other libraries will resume once the Advanced Learning Library opens.
  • Book drop service at the Central Library will be suspended as of May 6. Materials may be returned to branch libraries or to the after hours materials return at the Advanced Learning Library beginning on May 7.

Plans related to the grand opening of the Advanced Learning Library are expected to be announced soon.
