Winter weather is working its way across the Sunflower State, hitting places like Great Bend.
Gusty winds and a blanket of snow challenged some drivers on the roads Saturday afternoon.
“I was sliding all over the place,” Great Bend resident Jon Welch said. “I couldn’t leave any stop lights or stop signs.”
Serious enough conditions where multiple drivers slid off.
“It’s slicker than snot out here,” Tyler Fisher said. “We about slid off the road about five times on the way here, and we made it about three miles outside of town.”
Walmart truck driver Matt Rohrer told KSN he delivered his shipment, but he’s not going anywhere until the storm stops.
“I’m just going to wait this storm out and not move from here until the storm is completley over,” Rohrer said in the Walmart parking lot. “If that’s tomorrow morning, then that’s tomorrow morning.”
Many residents were also seen shoveling their driveways or just staying warm and hoping winter ends soon.
“I’m so ready to start mowing the grass.” Rohrer said. “I am tired of winter.”
“Yeah, I’m ready for summer,” Welch said. “I like the warm anyways. It’s better than this stuff.”
