Woman dies after south Wichita house fire

The family of the victim in Friday’s house fire has confirmed with KSN that the woman has died.

Peggy Roets, 64, passed away as a result of a fire at a home in the 1100 block of E. Zimmerly. The fire happened Friday morning.

Family members say she was a fun, loving and kind person who would do anything for anyone.

Authorities continue to investigate what caused the fire.

A house fire critically injured one person Friday morning in Wichita. It started at a home in the 1100 block of East Zimmerly.

When fire crews arrived, they couldn’t get into the home through the front door. They went through a bedroom window to search for anyone inside.

They found a 64-year-old woman inside the home. That woman is now at Via Christi St. Francis where she is considered in critical condition.

The investigation into what started the fire is just beginning. Authorities say $30,000 of damage was caused to the structure, and $10,000 in damage was caused to the contents of the home.
